Amit Vilasrao Deshmukh (Marathi: अमित विलासराव देशमुख ), popularly known as Amit Bhaiya, is a Member of Legislative Assembly from Maharashtra in the Government of Maharashtra from Latur City. He is an Indian politician from the state of Maharashtra, he is the eldest son of Vilasrao Deshmukh[1] Union Minister of Heavy Industries and former Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

In 2009 Amit Deshmukh contested from Latur City on Congress ticket & defeated Kayyum Khan Mohammad Khan Pathan of Bahujan Samaj Party & Shripad Kulkarni of Shivsena by a margin of 89,480 votes.[2] A fourth largest victory in Maharashtra.

Early life

He is the vice president of the Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress. He is also Chairman of Vikas Co-Operative Sugar Factory, Niwali, Latur which he founded in 2000 & Executive Trustee of Manjara Charitable Trust Latur. Also he is President of Vilasrao Deshmukh Foundation and Latur Taluka Samanvay Samitee.

Amit hails from the city of Latur in the Latur district of Maharashtra. He has a prominent place in Latur District's politics. and might be chances to become chiefminister in 2020.

Biography

Amit Deshmukh has completed Chemical Engineering from Thadomal Shahani College Of Engineering in Mumbai. He is married to Aditi Ghorpade.
